5 tbsp chili flakes

Step 1/3

  • 30 ginger
  • 2 chili peppers
  • cutting board
  • knife

Finely chop ginger. Cut tops off of the chili peppers and mince.

  • 2 star anise
  • 230 ml vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 5 tbsp chili flakes
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • frying pan

Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan. Add chili, ginger, and star anise. Fry until fragrant, then add vegetable oil, cumin, and chili flakes. Fry for approx. 3 โ€“ 5 min., while stirring.

Step 3/3

Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl or a sealable bottle or jar. Enjoy with soup, bread, or dips!
