Most of us have heard of St. Patrick’s Day. Every year on 17 March, people around the world cover themselves in shamrocks, take to the streets in colorful parades, and raise their pints of Guinness in singsong and banter.
Originally celebrated to commemorate Ireland’s patron saint and the arrival of Christianity on the Emerald isle, today “St. Paddy’s Day” is synonymous to Irish culture and heritage.
This special holiday has long been popular in Ireland, as well as in the United States, since there is a high percentage of Irish heritage among its population. But they are not the only nations that party on Paddy’s Day. Crowds all over the world have fallen in love with the quirks, lightheartedness, and optimism of the Irish culture. In fact, everyone can be a little bit Irish on St Patrick’s Day.
