This Latin-American sweet treat is easy to made and will impress your guests every single time you serve it. Of course, you can eat it as spread on a slice of bread, but you could also use it as filling for cookies, cakes and muffins. Juice lemon with a citrus juicer and set aside.
Add cream to a large saucepan. Then add milk, lemon juice, sugar and vanilla sugar and whisk until the sugar dissolves. Bring the mix to a simmer over medium-low heat and stir occasionally to avoid burning. Continue to simmer until the mix is amber colored.
After approx. 3 - 4 hours of simmering and stirring the spread should be thickened and caramelized. Allow it to cool and enjoy with baked goods.
